HBCU West is a future-forward education and economic mobility initiative based in San Francisco. We equip underrepresented students to thrive—not just in college, but in life, leadership, and legacy. As a national nonprofit and think tank, HBCU West connects high-achieving students from underserved communities with leading liberal arts colleges and top-tier research universities.
Mission
Trailblazing wealth through education, financial literacy, and career pathways that transform futures.
Vision
To create a generation of leaders who master financial literacy, excel in education, and access career pathways in medicine, biosciences, engineering, and urban planning/development—building lasting wealth and thriving communities.
We embrace the spirit of the West Coast—where technology, creativity, and bold ideas thrive—to inspire forward-thinking solutions, groundbreaking research, and transformative pathways for our students and communities.
We champion equity by opening doors to education, mentorship, and resources for underrepresented and first-generation students, ensuring they not only succeed but also create meaningful impact in the world.
We hold ourselves and our students to the highest standards, fostering accountability, leadership, and ethical decision-making, with a commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, research, and service.
We champion financial literacy as a foundation for lifelong stability, generational wealth, and informed decision-making, cultivating leaders who understand and build economic power.
We value partnerships across universities, industry, and civic organizations, fostering a network of support and shared purpose that amplifies student success, strengthens communities, and builds a more vibrant and equitable Bay Area.
